stripping (publishing)

Scanning through the style guide index, we noticed the entry "Stripping."

Did our professional just get a lot hotter?

You better believe it:

In the traditional method, individual page negatives are taped down onto a sheet big enough to hold all the negatives for the pages that will be printed from a single plate. The sheet, or flat is itself opaque but has cutouts the size of the page area on the negatives, into which the latter are stripped or imposed...this traditional manual stripping is increasingly being replaced by computerized stripping; in the direct-to-plate process, the computer positions all the images electronically and then projects them onto the plate.
